Tanner got his 2 month shots today. We didn't think he was going to get them because he was 3 days shy of 2 months. For me it was probably better because I only cried while he was getting the shots, not the whole morning before. Brad stayed in the room with him and said it wasn't quite like his circumcision. It's a good thing babies don't remember much when they get older...

The Happiest Place on Earth

Tanner's favorite place is his changing table! Every morning when he gets his diaper changed, he kicks and squeals and smiles the whole time. Although his kicking and laughing is so cute, it does make it a little challenging to change his diaper. One of his favorite moves is to have his legs locked, straight out, close together. It's virtually impossible to get a diaper between those legs. And no matter how far we put the diaper, it seems that his foot always finds it....

1 Month Photoshoot

Although we're getting his pictures back close to his 2 month, these are Tanner's 1 month pictures. His blessing outfit was made by his Grandma Smith. She also made him a special blessing blanket that I forgot to take out of the stroller for pictures. He was very well behaved during his pictures; however, he did not like the photographer moving his arms into different positions. For anyone who knows Tanner, this is no surprise.

Tanner's First Swim

Tanner went for his first swim tonight. He loved it! Of course it helps that the water feels like and bath and that its 100 degrees outside.

Teenagers Are Here

On Sunday my sister's three oldest kids stayed with us for the night and we absolutely loved it. We had fun making forts, swimming, making German pancakes, etc. For me the best part about it was hearing what they had to say- kids really do say the funniest things. Austin (the youngest of the three) loves his uncle Brad and was very interested anytime he said anything. I think the funniest thing about it was that if Austin heard Brad say something he would run towards him and say, "What Bread, what?" Isaac was trying to find a nickname for Tanner and his choices were Mikey, Spencer, or Hunter- needless to say we are still in the market for a nickname. One of my favorite things was when Isaac came running out with his hat sideways and said, "A teenager is here." He then ran over to the door and said, "Presenting a teenage girl," and Ally came out with her hat turned sideways. I am not sure where kids get these things, but I guess in their eyes teenagers wear their hats sideways. Overall everything was so fun and it makes us look forward to Tanner learning to talk.

Happy Father's Day

It was so fun celebrating Father's Day this year; I was so excited that I gave Brad his gift from Tanner on Friday! Even though Brad has only been a dad for 6 weeks it is obvious that he works to be the best and we are so thankful for all that he does. Tanner is very blessed to have such a wonderful father and although he can't express it, I know that he loves him very much. Being new parents has also made us so grateful for our parents. We both were so lucky to have loving mothers and fathers and we just want to say thank you to them for all that they have done for us.

Naked Babies

We put Isabel and Tanner together in their diapers to see how close they are in size. It is amazing how much they can grow in one week. Isabel is getting closer to Tanner, but I do not think that she will ever catch him.

Trouble with the Sling

Before Tanner was born I was so excited to get a sling and be able to carry my baby with me hands free. I figured that Tanner would love it because he would be able to go around with me and see all sorts of things- I didn't however know that Tanner would be so particular. Tanner loves to be able to stretch his legs out! This video shows Tanner 5 minutes after he had been put in the sling when he realized that he could not stretch out his legs...

Aunt Stefani

Brad's sister Stefani has been living here in Mesa this summer, we have loved having her around and appreciate her help. As you can tell from the picture Tanner loves having her here as well, she has a special touch with babies.

Tanner's Blessing

Sunday was Tanner's blessing, it was such a special day and everything went perfect. Carolyn (Brad's mother) made Tanner's blessing outfit and it was the cutest thing I have ever seen- I accidentally kept referring to it as his blessing dress and it made Brad very nervous. We were so thankful for all the support and help from our friends and family we love and appreciate all of you. We also wanted to give a special thank you to Jeck, Trenton, Stefani and the Manwarings for helping with the little lunch fiasco.

Cousins, Cousins, and More Cousins

On Saturday part of Brad's family was in town for Tanner's blessing and we were able to get some of them together to play in the pool. The kids loved being together and swimming- Tanner still has a little bit to grow before he can participate in the activities. Brad and I are hoping that we do not receive a letter from the HOA regarding the back pole near the garbage cans.

Presenting Miss Tanner Bradley Smith

In preparation for Tanner's blessing this Sunday I started to think about a purchase that I made some 4-5 years ago. I was out shopping and found the most beautiful blessing gown that was on sale, and having some of my mother's blood in me I was not able to pass it up (it is a sickness I know). Well, as you have probably guessed it I just needed to try it on a baby, so while Brad was at school, Tanner and I had a little dress-up party. I figure that boys used to be blessed in christening gowns so it is OK, although Brad might feel a little differently. At least Brad can be happy that even though Tanner is in a frilly dress he doesn't look much like a little girl.

The Bed Stealing Baby

When Tanner and I get up for his 4-5:00 am feeding he does not like to go back to sleep-unless I put him in our bed. I know that I always loved getting in my parents bed I just didn't know that kids started loving it at such a young age. So this morning while Tanner was in our bed he started wiggling around to make me move a little to the left. Before I knew it, Tanner was fast asleep and I was completely kicked out of my spot, sharing the other half of the bed with Brad. I guess he decided that it was not enough being in our bed, he needed a prime sleeping spot as well.
